Leaf & Knot Story

Based in Omaha, Nebraska - Leaf and Knot is a small, one person ran business that does woodworking (and high end vinyl decals) with a “modern rustic” design.

I started Leaf & Knot after browsing farmer markets one to many times. The markets were full of unique and rustic items. However, none of the items were new, with clean cuts and finishes. I wanted the look of dark woods, metals and custom designs….without the rust and deterioration of rustic.
No one seemed to offer all of those options, so I started. There was a learning curve and a process to gather the tools needed. Over time, I gain more confidence and skills to offer quality goods to others.

Simple wood signs and decals quickly expanded into Hanging Shelves and Cutting Boards. The more I became proficient, the more items I wanted to make. Those led to larger and complicate products such as Bourbon Barrel liquor cabinets and custom projects.

Leaf & Knot now has sold products around North America and even over-seas. Denmark, Norway, Germany, the UK, Canada and counting.

Why Leaf & Knot?

There are several choices and designs out there when it comes to wood and decal products. But I did notice a re-occurring theme from several vendors and websites (big & small).

• Mass retail (big box stores) home decor is “fake”. It’s not real wood. It’s manufacture sawdust that’s pressed together, then screen printed with fake wood grain images & massed produced in 3rd world countries. Cheap cost and cheap quality.

• Wood doesn’t mean only rustic. Craft shows are full of wonderful, small business owners making amazing items. However, many fous on rustic which sometimes "literally” means worn out and aged. Very unique and cool - sometimes not so much quality.

• How to improve this? Use tight joints, precise cuts, smoothed corners and finishes that protect the product.

• My decals are die-cut from a high end vinyl. The difference between this and cheap mass produced vinyls is extreme. Mass produced decals are printed on a clear plastic sticker. This is NOT the standard!
  My decals are not printed. They are die cut from high quality vinyl made for home and business application. This means when you place your decal on the surface, only the decal makes the image. There is not clear plastic backlayer. I sell wall + paint safe removable decals.

I am the person who always said “I could make that”. I grew up with Legos, so it should be no surprise that I was taking apart my car, building tree forts, designing board games, building my own computers and more currently, woodworking and graphic design.

I maintain every aspect of this website, including others like Facebook, Google, etc.

In my downtime, I travel as much as possible and work with State, Local and Educational institutes in the IT field.
